What this site is
companies.house helps small-business owners, freelancers, accountants and anyone researching a supplier read UK company records without guesswork. We combine company search, plain company profiles, a SIC code reference, a filing-date lookup and practical guides.
Independent service. Not affiliated with Companies House or GOV.UK. The official register is published by Companies House at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk, and every company page here links to the official record.
How we work
- Company details come from the Companies House Public Data API. We record the source and the time of each check and show it on the page.
- Where a field is missing, we show "Not available" rather than filling the gap.
- When a refresh fails, we label the data as potentially out of date instead of stamping it as current.
- Our own explanations are always labelled separately from official descriptions.
What we do not do
- We do not publish invented company records, reviews, ratings, user counts or endorsements.
- We do not infer turnover, profit, solvency, trading activity or trustworthiness from a registration status. An active company is not automatically a safe supplier.
- We do not create credit scores, fraud scores or regulatory approvals from the public register, because they are not in it.
- We do not publish pages about individual people, and officer and PSC data is outside our current scope.
How the service is funded
Research on this site is free. In time we may show clearly labelled, optional partner offers for services such as company formation, registered office addresses, bookkeeping and accounting software. Nothing is shown until the site owner has supplied a real, approved provider, and paid links carry rel="sponsored". Where a task can be completed directly through a government service, we say so. See our affiliate disclosure.
Where we are heading
The current site is a working MVP: search, profiles, SIC tools, filing dates, comparison and guides. Monitoring features such as watchlists and change digests are designed for but not yet built, so you will not find buttons here that do nothing. Basic official company alerts are already available free from Companies House; any future paid feature from us would have to earn its place on workflow, not on access to data.
Who operates this site
Operator and contact details will be published here once the site owner supplies them. We would rather leave this blank than invent a company name, address or telephone number. See contact and editorial policy.
